Overview
In this 19-minute micro-course, Paul Neale covers a simple transparent water material to simulate a flowing water surface. We will explore the use of the Custom Rotator node for setting the direction of flow, as well as how to control the speed of flow using the Panner and several expression nodes. With the use of a Fresnel falloff, we’ll control the opacity to simulate how water is more transparent when viewed at a right angle.
You will learn how to
- Blend normal maps with a blend angle corrected normals node.
- Set up complex translucent shaders with tessellation and displacements.
- Animate a texture using a panner node.
- Create a custom rotator to animate the texture.
