Nobody can resist a good story.
From the heartwarming Yum Burger Langhap Sarap stories of Jollibee to the Star Wars-inspired tearjerkers of Globe and also that famous Levis TV ad that touched the hearts of a lot of Millenials, it proves that storytelling has become one of the most successful breakthroughs in modern-day advertising.
THIS IS THE GROWING TREND TODAY:
It’s no longer the usual pushy “in your face” advertising.
The now story gets to be the hero of the commercial while the product plays only a supporting role (in cases, they often don’t).
And as Gab Malvar qualifies, “Wala namang tama, wala namang mali” (There is no right or wrong) and that “it is only good or bad”.
At the end of the day, it all narrows down to the execution of the story.
Listen to this conversation between Gab and Tom and watch as they carefully dissect the current state of storytelling – in media production, in brands having concrete “opinions”, in the sad bureaucracy that’s been happening within agencies, and the demands of modern-day advertising and consumer behavior.
Watch the final part of this 3-part series for visual storytelling tips that you can use as you begin to craft narratives for your brand.
